Pulmonology is classified as an internal medicine subspecialty. All of our physicians are certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in pulmonary medicine with special qualifications in critical care medicine. As pulmonologists, our physicians possess specialized knowledge and skill in the diagnosis and treatment of lung conditions and diseases. Some conditions that a pulmonologist will diagnose and treat include asthma, chronic cough, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), lung cancer, and sarcoidosis.
Pulmonologists may serve as consultants to other physicians as well as provide long-term care to patients with chronic conditions.
